Fireside Chats

The Subcommittee Chair works closely with a volunteer coordinator (You perhaps?) that manages the Fire Side Chat (FSC) event. The Chair ensures that the topic & speaker as well as the home host is arranged in advance and is announced to the SOS membership in Whisker Pole with the sign-up deadline date and the volunteer coordinator contact info. 

Fire Side Chat (FSC) provides a variety of educational opportunities in a home hosted social setting offered to SOS members during the non-sailing season which is typically Dec – March.

The volunteer coordinator is a one-time position for one specific Fire Side Chat (FSC) event.

In general, the FSC volunteer coordinator would:

- receive the email notice of online registrations (that include online registration fees)
- work closely with the home host, establish menu and food, serving utensils needed, etc. 
- provides the food for the event, which is paid from the sign-up fees
- handles the associated reimbursement paperwork

 

As a “Thank you”! the volunteer coordinator does NOT pay the registration fee.
