Suggested Gear List and Prep List for Bareboat Charters
- Don’t forget your passport, credit card, drivers license, airline tickets.
- Inform your credit card company that you will be traveling so that it will not freeze your account when it sees unfamiliar charges.
- Check with your health care provider (if necessary). Bring all medications in your carry-on bag.
- Bring small bills for tips along the way…. check for local currency and rate.
- Plan for at least one cell phone per boat that has been activated for international use at your destination.
- For the islands/tropics, buy bug spray ( sand fleas and mosquito, etc).
- Checked luggage can be $15.00 to $25.00 per bag
- Have 3 ounce bottles for liquids in clear plastic bag for carry on……or buy at destination and leave it there.
- Check for local electrical voltage and connections needed (110 or 220).
- The charter company supplies bed linens and towels

Skippers:
- SOS burgee, if possible
- Duct tape
- bungy cords

- CD’s
- clothes pins
- Handheld GPS/mobile device with navigation app
EVERYONE:
- Deck shoes
- Underwear
- Hat with a brim
- Bathing suits
- Sailing gloves
- Shorts
- Sun screen - SPF 15 or higher
- Light weight pants
- Flashlight
- Tees or sleeveless shirts
- Toilet kit; shampoo, tooth paste, etc
- Long sleeved shirts
- Towel for deck or beach
- Light sweater or sweat shirt
- Sunglasses
- Wind breaker or light rain jacket
- Prescription contacts or glasses (2)
- Something to sleep in
- Skin moisturizer
- Shoes/sandals for shore use
FOR the ISLANDS/TROPICS:
- Your own mask and snorkel (if you have favorites)
- Swim fins if desired (mask and fins often available at base)
- Tee or long sleeved shirt for snorkeling – prevent sunburn
- Reef shoes for beach
- Light rain proof jacket
DO NOT BRING:
- Hard luggage
- Costly jewelry
FOR EUROPE:
- Capris or slacks for women (ashore)
- Dressier shirts; tees and other (ashore)
- Foul weather gear/rain jacket
